Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) offers meaningful part-time volunteer opportunities to persons 55+ with low incomes who provide one-to-one supportive services to children with special or exceptional needs. Foster grandparents receive stipends to support their volunteer work.

Senior Companion Program (SCP) offers part-time volunteer community service opportunities to persons 55+ with low incomes who provide supportive one-to-one services to older adults who help remaining independent in their own homes.

Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides 55+ with volunteer opportunities that meet important community needs. RSVP encourages older adults to share their lifetime talents, experiences, skills and hobbies with community projects and organizations needing volunteer talent.

Skills for Dementia Caregiving (also known as the Savvy Caregiver Program) Volunteer Trainer - Savvy means “knowing”.  The  Skills for Dementia Caregiving (aka Savvy Caregiver Program) is an interactive training program for caregivers of loved ones with dementia.  Skills for Dementia Caregiving (Savvy Caregiver) Trainers help caregivers become “savvy” by facilitating an evidence-based curriculum to assist caregivers in developing a sense of control or mastery while reducing stress and increasing their sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.

In an effort to expand the availability of the Skills for Dementia Caregiving (also known as the Savvy Caregiver) Program throughout the state, the Alzheimer’s Association, NM Chapter, is recruiting and training volunteers to become Skills for Dementia Caregiving/Savvy Caregiver Program Trainers.
